Taking souls, eating psykers

Taking souls, eating psykers

Inspired by a post in the Heralds of Ruin Facebook group, I wanted to try an Officio Assassinorum kill team, especially with a Culexus assassin. Lacking a model for the assassin I decided to kitbash my own version and found myself drawn into the Mechanicus part of my bitz collection.

So the choice was an easy one – it had to be a tech-assassin, suitable to be used as a Culexus for HoR & regular 40k as well as making an appearance as a Malagra Magos Prime in 30k or even some other flavour of ‘nasty’ in our Inq28 games. 😀

Mixing Dark Eldar and Cult Mechanicus parts I tried to re-create a classic villain pose (milking the giant cow) for the model which worked really well along with the Talos’ gigantic hands. I most certainly spent more time dry-fitting the various parts including several that weren’t used in the end than with building the actual model.^^

In the end the Talos weapon worked really well with the chain ring to resemble an artificial version of the official assassin’s animus speculum. Also I found a use for at least one the ten built electro priests I got through a trade which just gathered dust ever since. Additionally I had an excuse to use my tube tools again to fill the robes with cables after I had to cut the damaged feet off.

Overall I’m pretty pleased with the finished model and at least could turn my sleepless night (thank you, noisy neighbours…) into something productive. 🙂

Sidereus Poena – Banishing the Warp 101

Sidereus Poena – Banishing the Warp 101

Despite my first idea for Inq28 warband being a radical Hybris Inquisitrix, the Ordo Malleus finally got the nod over the Ordo Xenos. In this case I went with a puritanical faction, which tries to defend the God-Emperor’s ongoing plan and thus the status quo.

The Amalathians believe that the Emperor has a grand plan and that it is unfolding as it should. They are therefore concerned with maintaining the status quo and react vehemently against change. They are less concerned about the threat of mutation, witchery and the like, and more active in ensuring there is harmony within the vast Imperial organizations, that any rivalries and discord are dealt with and kept to a minimum.

It is the code of the Amalathian that strength is achieved through unity, and politicking and change will serve only to destabilize the Imperium. Noted amongst the many allies of the Amalathian are the Adeptus Arbites and local security forces. The mandate of such organizations being the upholding of imperial law and order thus maintaining the status quo and, in the eyes of the Amalathian, the strength inherent in the Imperium and the Emperor’s design for it.

Amalathian Inquisitors make a point of cooperating with local Imperial authorities, although their official remit is unrestricted. Where other Inquisitors demand, Amalathians politely “request”, and do their best to keep their allies informed.

A distraction from the past – Inq28

A distraction from the past – Inq28

It seems like my hobby cravings aren’t satisfied with several Mordheim projects, the Dark Mechanicum and my BikeStar.

Recently a friend of mine came over so that I could build him a suitable servo-arm for his Iron Priest on thunderwolf and while I was working, he discovered some parts for a thorian inquisitor which I gathered a long time ago. We began to talk about Inquisitor and how we both were interested in the game while it was still new, but both never had the chance to play it back then due to a lack of other players.

Some time, talks, image searches on Google and Inq28 blogs later, we gave in to the black hole which is called “side projects”…

In the meantime I have produced a small copy of Devotee Malicant, a Desperado with short-barreled multi-laser (which I still have to dechaotify) and a lovely little arco-flagellant for my inquisitor’s retinue.
